1/ Unpackaged socks only.
2/ The length is the measured distance from the bottom of the heel to the top of the sock.
3/ The measurement of the relaxed foot length shall be taken in a straight line from the tip of the toe to the back of the heel along a straight line through the tip of the toe and the bottom of the heel gore.
4/ The measurement of the stretched foot length shall be taken from the tip of the toe to the lower end of the heel gore, holding the sock firmly between the thumb and the finger at the toe tip and at the heel gore, and stretching the fabric to its limit.
3.6 Bursting strength (Type I and II). The leg material of the finished socks shall have a ball bursting strength of not less than 85 pounds when tested in accordance with ASTM D3787.
3.7 Label/marking. Each sock shall have a size marking applied just below the instep and centered between the ankle and toe. The color of the marking shall be white. Each pair of socks shall have a commercial-type label.containing the contractor’s namer contract number and National Stock Number (NSN).
3.7.1 Washing instructions. Each pair of socks shall contain the following washing instructions: Machine wash, warm water, no- softener either in washer or dryer. Tumble dry warm.
