COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
SOCKS, STRETCH TYPE (DRESS OR LINER)
The General Services Administration has authorized ths use of this commercial item description for all Federal agencies.
1. SCOPE. This commercial item description covers requirements for stretch type, ribbed knit, cotton/nylon, and polyester socks. The socks are intended for dress wear or as a liner in a sock system by personnel of the Department of Defense.
2. CLASSIFICATION. The socks shall be provide in the following types:
Type I- Cotton/nylon (Dress)
Type II- Polyester/nylon/spandex or rubber (Liner or Dress)
3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS.
3.1 Description.
3.1.1 Type I. The socks shall be seamless, circular 1 X 1 mock or true rib knit, stretch type with a ribbed elastic top, fabricated on a 132-240 needle machine or a equivalent process, and suitable for dress wear.
